Albert’s work

In 1933 Albert Einstein moved to the U.S. when Adolf Hitler (leader of the Nazi Party) gained power in Germany. He taught physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and became a U.S. citizen in 1940.

He published more than 300 scientific papers and received honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine and philosophy from many European and American Universities.

He was even offered to be president of Israel which he turned down.

He was named ‘Person of the Century’ in 1999 by Time Magazine.

Einstein didn’t like war but his scientific discoveries and famous equation E=mc2 were used by others to create the atomic bomb.

Another interesting discovery of Einstein’s were photons, the tiny particles that make up light. Many scientists didn’t agree with his discovery but experiments proved him right.

Together with scientist Satyendra Bose, he discovered another state of matter called the Bose-Einstein Condensate. It’s used in lasers and superconductors.

In his later life, he worked on a unified field theory that would bring together all the laws of physics. He was still writing about quantum physics hours before he died.

He died in hospital on 18 April 1995 from heart failure at age 76 and never finished his work.

Before he died he said something to the nurse. What he said is a mystery because he said it in German.
