There are more insects on the planet than any other animal. All insects have six legs and three body parts. Some insects have wings and some don't. The main groups of insects are butterflies, moths, beetles, centipedes, grasshoppers, and flies. Some insects like bees, ants and wasps live together in large groups.

Grasshoppers can be brown, grey, green, or yellow. They live all around the world except where it is cold. Grasshoppers have six legs and two pairs of wings. Their back legs are large and help them to jump. They can jump about 25cm high. Grasshoppers eat leaves and grass. They make sounds by rubbing their legs and wings together.
