Religion

Most Spanish people are Catholics. They have many days dedicated to saints and often hang pictures or put up statues of them in their streets and houses. People in Spain are free to practice their own religion, whether it is Catholic or not. 

 

Country regions

Spain is 504,782 square km in size and is divided into 17 regions called autonomous communities. Spain also has two autonomous cities: Ceuta and Melilla.

Government and Economy

Spain has a parliamentary monarchy. They have kings and queens which share power with the elected president.

Spain is very well known for producing textiles and clothing, including footwear and handbags. They also have many large car manufacturers. 

Spanish grapes, vegetables and oranges are known worldwide and their medical system is one of the best in the world. There are many natural resources such as copper, zinc, iron, mercury and coal.

The most important industry, however, is tourism. Millions of people book flights every year to enjoy a Spanish holiday. Other than tourism, the rest of the economy hasn’t progressed very much.

In Spain they don’t use pounds to pay for things, they use euros like most other European countries.

The national animal of Spain is the bull.
