The Netherlands is a constitutional monarchy, that means the country has a king or queen, but the real power is in the hands of a parliament. The parliament is chosen by the Dutch people and elections are held every four years. All Dutch people who are 18 or older are allowed to vote.

Like most other European countries, the currency used is the euro.

The Netherlands has no resources for mining. Its last mine shut down in 1974. It might be a small country but it is one of the top exporters! Many of the world’s tomatoes, cucumbers and flowers are exported from the Netherlands.
