What is an adverb?

An adverb is a word that describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Most adverbs tell us how something happened.

 

Take a look at some examples of adverbs describing verbs:

She runs quickly

Tom walks slowly.

Pluto barked loudly when he saw the car.

She asked politely to borrow a pencil. 

It started to rain heavily
