Adding the suffix -ly
This is a great activity for teaching your students how to turn adjectives into adverbs by adding -ly.
If we add -ly to an adjective, it turns it into an adverb - nice + ly = nicely. If the word ends with 'y', the 'y' becomes an 'i', and then add -ly - happy + ly = happily. If the word ends with 'le', drop the 'le' and add -ly - terrible + ly = terribly. Children turn adjectives into adverbs by adding ly.
