How do we measure liquids?

When we measure liquids, we usually measure in millilitres (ml) and litres (L).

The big bottle holds 1000 ml.

The small bottle holds 500 ml.

The cup holds 100 ml.

1000ml is greater than 100ml.

The big bottle can hold the most water and the cup can hold the least water.

 

Example 1:

Which of these quantities is the greatest?

3 ml,  9 ml,  20 ml,  14 ml

Answer: 20 ml

 

Example 2:

Which of these quantities is the smallest?

13 L,  24 L,  5 L,  8 L

Answer: 5 L
