What is a verb?
Verbs are everywhere! A verb is simply a doing or action word, like jump, kick, eat, smile, or think. We use verbs all the time in our writing. There are lots of action verbs in the English language! An action verb tells us what a person, animal, or thing can do.
Let’s have a look at some examples of action verbs below:
The cat jumps.
The verb is jumps. It tells you what the cat does.
Sally laughs.
The verb is laughs. It tells you what Sally does.
Jack runs to school.
The verb is runs. It tells you what Jack does.
