What is the mode?
The mode is the number which appears most often from a list of numbers.
Example:
4, 3, 4, 2, 6, 4, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4
Step 1: Put the numbers in order from smallest to biggest:
2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6
Step 2: Count how many times each number occurs and find the number which appears the most:
2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6
There are five number 4s
There are two number 3s
There are two number 2s
There is one number 5
There is one number 6
The number which appears the most is 4.
2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6
The mode is 4.
